About our Speakers

Kelli Schmith, Owner & Strategist, Karmic Boom

“Never miss a good chance to shut up.” ~Will Rogers.  Kelli Schmith’s favorite quote hardly suggests her fanatical energy for social media, yet it’s the first thing she tells business owners who struggle to understand its business value.

Schmith uses the one-liner to frame the business-changing power of enabling customers to speak for you.  “The aha moment arrives for business executives when they realize social media means their marketing efforts generate less noise, not more,” she says.

Kelli and her strategic marketing firm, Karmic Boom, help companies change the way they attract new customers and engage the ones they have.  Schmith dove fearlessly into strategic consulting after leaving an 18 year career as a brand marketer and communications executive.

During her corporate career, she leveraged her knack of connecting people and ideas to create new roles that took her around the globe. She logged a dozen years in consumer and technology publishing before switching gears to work with small business entrepreneurs.

Schmith draws heavily from the perspectives she gained while working in three other, very different, industries: logistics, e-commerce, and emergency notification technology.   “I’m all about grass-roots, love-your-customer mentality.  Marketers who share that philosophy will be the first to reap the rewards of social technology.”

You can follow Kelli (@MarketingVeep) on Twitter and Friendfeed for starters. She liberally shares ideas, resources and personal lessons on her blog, DigDeepThinker.com.
