Technical Account Manager (TAM)

Position Summary:

The Technical Account Manager (TAM) is responsible for the overall technical management of our client base, with a current focus on data management duties. The TAM’s role involves working directly with clients on supporting data related operations and working internally with the sales, technology and the statistics team’s to devise the most appropriate methods to process this data.

The TAM must also manage their workload to critical timelines and bring very strong communication skills to the role.

Job Focus:

  • Analysis of disparate data sources, set up and run data conversions
  • Work closely with sales and technology teams to facilitate best processing of data
  • Understand client data requirements
  • Communicate issues and manage data recency
  • Produce clear and concise documents in support of data conversion

Position Summary:

Working in a team environment, the Production Analyst coordinates and executes production processes to create and deliver direct mail list products for Catalog marketers.

Key Responsibilities include:

Data Analyst

The Data Analyst directly supports the Marketing Services Manager in providing post-implementation database customer support. They are the primary client interface for a database solution after the solution has gone into production.

Database Update Process

  1. Manages the database update process and serves ad the Update Project Manager for the cross-functional update team, Publishes update schedule. Gathers update information and data. Documents update changes. Clarifies update instructions and coordination. Creates and monitors update change tickets. Monitors and facilitates the update process, phase completion and process hand-offs. Troubleshoots update problems. Ensures update communication and coordination of efforts to enable accurate and timely update delivery.
  2. Creates update documentation including update process plan, input file programming instructions, change tickets and data dictionaries.
  3. Checks and approves the update inputs and outputs including the incoming files used in the update and table deliverables created by Engineering at various stages of the update process. Checks input and output files. Ensures that changes are made accurately. Checks output Profile Reports. Analyzes field value changes. Ensures that update programs adhere to business rules.
  4. Communicates update progress and information to client. Responds to client questions and concerns.
  5. Identifies ways to improve update process and procedures.

Client Support

  1. Participates in regular client contact meetings.
  2. Researches and provides answers and solutions to client questions and concerns.
  3. Provides query and analysis application support and ongoing telephonic application training.
  4. Ensures that updates are running on time.
  5. Manages team (CSR’s, Engineering) and keeps project on schedule

The Solutions Manager’s primary role is to design database marketing solutions and managing their implementation at client sites. Secondarily, this role will also involve providing client consultation in the areas of business needs assessment, marketing strategy and program management, as well as analysis of client data.

Client Services Positions
The CPS Technician is responsible for working with Account Executive(s) to provide the highest quality products and services to our internal and external customers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Produce statistical models and fulfill orders for clients based off of AOE orders submitted from Sales. May also serve as a contact for the client, service bureaus, and internal customers.
  • Assist in research projects and automation projects as assigned.

Produce statistical models and fulfill orders for clients based off of AOE orders submitted by Account Executives.Responsible for accepting, printing and the folder setup of orders for assigned accounts or as requested by Management team.Update all orders in Metrics after they are imported from AOE, and update progress of all jobs on a daily basis.

Handle all aspects of processing the order from set up to shipment - includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Review model order form from sales.
  • Enter model parameters and run jobs through the production system.
  • Monitor progress of job through production system.
  • Quality control of all models built including completing a QC sheet on each model through each phase of set-up, run, and fulfillment.
  • Update Account Executive daily on all orders.
  • Fulfillment, including shipment, of names and follow-up with service bureau/client to ensure receipt of file(s) and paperwork.
  • Provide Account Executive with complete, accurate and on-time summaries for orders submitted within the timing guidelines.
  • Provide Account Executive with accurate final model summaries for orders fulfilled and shipped.
  • Complete all necessary billing information in SRS or provide paperwork to Billing the same day a shipment is sent.
  • Responsible for managing own workload to ensure on time delivery. May require securing help from others at times.
  • Maintains a high level of accuracy, quality, and efficiency of orders completed through proper QC and folder organization as detailed in the folder guidelines.
  • Maintain average processes per hour that meet or exceed expectations based on quarterly objectives.
  • Attend all mandatory training sessions as scheduled unless out for PTO, illness or have an excused absence from CS Manager.
  • Before leaving on PTO, arrangements are to be made with one or more backup Technicians to complete all jobs in progress and pull any jobs from AOE that come in during PTO days. Responsible for communicating these assignments to both Account Executive(s) and CPS Managers/Team Leads.
  • Assist other technicians as needed to ensure the department as a whole meets its obligation to internal and external customers.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred. 1 year direct marketing (or 3 years general office) experience, 1 year Abacus experience or any combination of education and experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, and a background in customer service preferred.
  • Position demands computer literacy, adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to handle a high volume of multiple tasks.
  • Individual is required to work independently with infrequent supervision and at the same time be able to also work effectively in a team environment.

Drives continuous enhancements of customer database content, functionality of database tools, selection techniques, and reporting in the areas where they impact marketing campaigns and ensure visibility into performance.

Acts as the lead marketing resource within CRM to support marketing program implementation, optimization and improved usage of our technology/systems.

The individual is expected to have a combination of both technical database and business skills and should be able to communicate easily with technical people as well as marketing, sales, product, and finance teams.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in liberal arts or technical field. MBA preferred.
  • Power-user level experience with relational marketing database: strong understanding of database technology – architecture and processing – for management of prospect database.
  • Strong hands-on analytical skills using campaign management tools, spreadsheets, databases, and query tools.
  • 5–10 years experience in manipulation and analysis of prospect or customer databases.
  • 5 – 10 years experience with CRM or sales force automation tools and/or Windows-based database tools.
  • People Soft experience is a plus and/or experience with Crystal Reports. Familiarity with SQL strongly preferred.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving theory or limited facts and derive complex solutions.

Computer Skills:
